Two mandatory national standards, "Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders" and "liquefied petroleum Gas cylinder valves", were released

Recently, the General Administration of Market Supervision (State Standards Committee) issued the "Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders" (GB 5842-2023) "Liquefied petroleum gas cylinder valves" (GB 7512-2023) two mandatory national standards (hereinafter referred to as standards), since December 1, 2023 implementation.

In view of the outstanding hidden dangers existing in the current gas safety operation, the new standard puts forward more explicit requirements. The first is to prohibit the use of gas-liquid dual phase bottles, only allow the use of pure gas phase bottles or liquid phase bottles. In view of the greater risk of liquid bottles, the standard only specifies a specification of 50kg. The second is to improve the cylinder seal information. The stamped information must include important information such as the manufacturer, the allowable filling amount, the manufacturing year and the design service life, and the printing depth is required to be no less than 0.7mm, which is easy for users to read and meet regulatory requirements. The third is to increase electronic reading signs. The electronic reading mark is written into the key information of the gas cylinder, including product information, certificate of conformity, quality certificate, type test certificate, etc. Consumers can identify the authenticity of the gas cylinder by scanning the electronic logo. The fourth is to unify the color of the cylinder. In order to facilitate identification and management, the body of the gas phase bottle is silver gray, and the body of the liquid phase bottle is white. Fifth, improve the quality traceability information requirements. The standard requires cylinder manufacturing enterprises to establish product traceability information websites to publicize the relevant information of each product to the society.

The introduction and implementation of these two standards will play an important technical support role in ensuring the safe operation of urban gas and protecting the safety of people's lives and property. The General Administration of Market Supervision will carry out the publicity and implementation of the standards, implementation and application of regulatory law enforcement and other work, requiring the liquefied petroleum gas cylinder and bottle valve industry to fully implement the standard requirements from production, sales, filling and use.
